The Benen Saga Part IV
...That's right! Hump the motor!
So Josh, Robby and I got together the following week to drop the motor in. We put it off a few days because I was still waiting for some Hasport mounts to arrive. Well, before we could start with any of that, we had to assemble the cherry picker that I just bought. Can't rely on some people when they say, "oh sure, you can borrow my hoist, just give me a call over the weekend and come get it..." BLEH! Skipped the flakes and got my own, it'll be used for years to come.
It's in! We're done for the night!
Fast forward to a couple days later, Josh and I tie up the loose ends where we run into more problems. (YAY!) We are about 1" short on the exhaust from matching up to the cat/resonator. We are able to connect the pipes, but made an appointment at Bill's Muffler to get it done right. Then, both of our axles were crap, so we ran down the Autozone to pick up a lifetime replacement set. (They may be seeing a lot of me once I get more track time!) Got the axles in, put everything back together and set her down!
Next, we connected all the hoses and harnesses, said a prayer and decided to crank her over...
Chirp, Chirp, Chirp... VROOOM!
Sweetness! We let her idle for a few minutes and quickly found out we had a leaky coolant hose near the intake manifold. Fixed that, and drove it around the block! Mom was pissed, because the car didn't have any tags or plates, but whatever, it just HAD to get done! What a relief and what a conclusion to a solid month of hard work and hard spending. I really spared no expense with this project. If something was questionable, it was taken care of. No shortcuts, no penny pinching, no regrets! As I'm writing this, the car has over 1500 miles on the motor, and it's been a dream to drive. Handles flawlessly, and revs to no end.
Honda Power!
That is the Benen Saga as it stands now, updates will come as the story progresses...
