The Benen Saga Part III...
Ok, the head was sent out to the machine shop to get the valve job it desperately needed. While it was there, Pete at Total Precision installed new bronze valve guides, as well as some Skunk2 Valvesprings. These would be necessary in order to run the Comp Stage 2 cams at 8000+ RPMS. So after about $500 doing the headwork, and approaching $600 in OEM replacement parts, we're ready to start putting the motor together!
And that's as far as we got that day... Why?
One special order dowel pin and o-ring! Bastard!
Grr... Onward.
So while waiting for the parts those parts to come in, I decided that the stock GSR tranny wasn't going to cut it. I wanted more! My buddy down at Acura said he had a brand-spankin new 2001 Type R tranny for sale. I snatched it up right away, couldn't pass up that deal! That week, I picked up the door panels from Doug, and they came back flawless. Figured, while I was spending money, I'd invest in some 13" Lensos with M+H Drag Slicks!
Alright, lets get this motor built!!
The parts came in that we needed to finish the job, so Josh and I got together on a Thursday night to get the beast together. Everything pretty much fell into place. (Usually helps when you have all the parts needed!) We were done getting the head assembled, intake manifold, header, and the timing set within a few hours.
YES! The motor is built and complete! There's only one thing left to do...
